Uniforms |
Official uniform guidelines can be found in the Upper School Parent Handbook in your Parent Portal. Below is a helpful visual reference, but not every aspect of the dress code is covered, so please reference the handbook. Every Wednesday and on other days throughout the year, students are required to be in formal uniforms. All students wear a blazer and a button-down shirt, accompanied by a school tie with gray dress pants, or accompanied by an ESD-plaid skirt. Students may not wear sweatshirts or athletic apparel on formal uniform days. On a day designated as a formal uniform day, students are required to be in formal uniform for the entire day. White Shirt: White oxford button-down or no-pocket white polo (ESD monogram or plain with no monogram or logo) with 2 to 5 buttons; clean, tucked in with waistband visible and appropriately sized with all but the top button buttoned. Seniors have the privilege of wearing either a light blue or yellow oxford or polo, following the guidelines for the white polo. Both the oxford and the polo can be short or long-sleeved. On formal uniform days, only the oxford is acceptable. Navy Blazer: Must be worn on all formal uniform days, including Eucharist, and other days as specified. The blazer should fit well and should be in good condition. Gray Slacks: To be purchased from our uniform vendor and worn with a solid or braided belt. Skirt: Navy-green-gold ESD plaid to be purchased from our uniform vendor. The skirt may not be altered to remove the inner shorts or hemmed to be shortened. Gray Shorts: To be purchased from our uniform vendor. Dress shorts of appropriate length to achieve a professional appearance; not permitted on formal dress days. Navy Sweater: Solid navy cardigan, pullover, crew, or V-neck (small logo or monogram permitted). On formal days, the sweater must be worn under a blazer. Undergarments: Undergarments may not have logos or colors that are visible through the uniform, and may not be exposed or visible in any way. Socks: Solid white or navy, small logo acceptable. Sweatshirt: Solid blue sweatshirt or fleece (ESD logo or no logo) is permitted only on regular dress days. A monogram or logo is permitted if 2” or less in size. An exception is made for an ESD-sanctioned team or activity blue sweatshirt, in which case lettering can be larger than 2”. Coats: Navy ESD jackets, ESD Varsity Letter jacket, or plain navy jackets may be worn both inside and outside on regular uniform days. Non-uniform coats may be worn outside, but must be removed while inside buildings. Shoes: Brown, tan, or black dress shoes, all black or all white athletic shoes, navy or white & black saddle oxfords are all acceptable options. Shoes must be clean and in good condition, with enclosed toe and heel. The heel may not exceed 1.0” in height. Seniors have the privilege of wearing cowboy boots. Accessories: Hats and caps are not permitted inside a school building during the school day. ESD scarves and white or navy scarves are permitted on non-formal uniform days. Belt: Solid or braided brown or black belt to be worn at all times with shorts or pants; no large belt buckles and no logos (other than an ESD logo) Jewelry and Make-up: Appropriate and simple. Hair: Clean, well-groomed. Only natural hair dye colors are permitted. Facial hair is not permitted. Tights/Leggings: Tights or leggings must be solid weave and in good condition without flares/bell bottoms, rips, holes, or sheer material. Tights or leggings must be solid navy only. To achieve a professional appearance, no sweatpants, yoga pants, or long underwear can be worn under the skirt. |
