Join us for a special celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month with alumna Luisa Navarro '08 at ESD on Thursday, September 18, from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. In honor of Mexican culture and Día de Muertos, Luisa will be signing copies of her debut book, Mexico's Day of the Dead: A Celebration of Life Through Stories and Photos.
Luisa is a Mexican-American storyteller and creator of the blog and lifestyle brand, Mexico In My Pocket. A graduate of Columbia Journalism School, she worked as a producer for major network news before opening her beautiful gift shop in the Caroll Gardens neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York.
Don’t miss the opportunity to connect with Luisa, learn more about Día de Muertos, and celebrate her incredible accomplishment. Signed copies of Mexico’s Day of the Dead will be available for purchase, along with a special gift from Cocoandré, Chocolatier & Horchateria.

If you are unable to attend in person, there will be an option to join via Zoom. Spouses and significant others are welcome, either in person or online.

Eagles Real Estate Club

Join us for our October Eagles Real Estate Club!
Established in 2021, the Eagles Real Estate Club hosts quarterly meetings to connect ESD alumni and parents working in the real estate industry. Hosted by Emma Cabrales '18, Trey Scardino ’16, Stephen Swann ’93 P’24,’27,’29, and Libby Laughlin Wood ‘15, the goal of the club is to bring together the ESD community for networking and future business opportunities.
Join the club for their October networking breakfast on Thursday, October 16, from 7:30 - 9:00 a.m. in the North Dining Room in the Daryl Johnston Family Dining Commons at ESD. The club is pleased to feature Vijay Mehra ’00, Founder & CEO of Lenderbox, as its keynote speaker. He will present on the impact of AI on the commercial real estate market.
Vijay Mehra is a visionary technology entrepreneur and commercial real estate innovator with a proven track record of building and scaling successful ventures. A graduate of Southern Methodist University with dual bachelor's degrees in electrical engineering and mathematics, he bootstrapped his first company, Rethink, into a leading commercial real estate application. Under his leadership, Rethink was recognized on the Inc. 500 list for multiple consecutive years and was successfully acquired by a private equity firm in 2021. Following this success, he co-founded two investment funds, Pangaea Capital Partners and Critical Mass Capital, to support fast-growth technology companies. With nearly two decades of experience, Vijay is now returning to his builder roots with LenderBox, an AI-powered platform revolutionizing the commercial real estate lending market. Join us for our Alumni Homecoming Tailgate!
Join us for our annual Alumni Homecoming Tailgate on Friday, October 24, from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. at ESD! Return to the nest for one of our most treasured school traditions, our annual Homecoming Football Game against St. John’s (Houston).
Don’t miss the opportunity to reconnect with friends and former teachers, along with hearing updates on ESD and our Alumni Association from our Head of School, Dave Baad, and Alumni Board President, Mark Goode!
Looking to bring the family? Our annual ESD Community Picnic is happening at the same time, so there will be plenty of activities for your kids to enjoy! Food and drinks will be served at the tailgate before you head over to the Homecoming football game, along with a sweet treat from the ESD Alumni Association!
