ESD Earns AP School Honor Roll Platinum Designation for Superior College Readiness
October 10, 2023
The AP® School Honor Roll, launched in October 2023, recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access. Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness. This year’s Honor Roll designations reflect performances from May 2023.
The College Board announced that The Episcopal School of Dallas has been named to the Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) School Honor Roll 2023, earning the highest distinction in all three categories.
- PLATINUM: College Culture
- 100% of the graduating classes complete at least one AP course.
- ESD’s rate is 20 points higher than the requirement for platinum.
- PLATINUM: College Credit
- 91% of the Class of 2024 earned an AP exam score of 3 or higher
- ESD’s rate is 41 points higher than the requirement for platinum.
- PLATINUM: College Optimization

“It takes a school-wide effort from teachers, counselors, administrators, students, and parents to prioritize AP access and success,” said ESD’s Chief Academic Officer Rebecca Brady. “Thank you to everyone for impacting our students in positive ways. You’ve earned this.”
ESD offers 32 Advanced Placement courses on campus, from AB Calculus to World History. Students at ESD who take an AP must take the examination or submit a final work product; the Class of 2023 collectively completed more than 700 exams. One hundred and twenty-five testers at ESD earned AP Scholar designation and above. Twelve members of the Class of 2023 and one member of the Class of 2024 won National AP Scholar by scoring a 4 or higher on eight or more AP exams and an average score of 4 on all AP exams. A member of the Class of 2026 achieved a perfect score on his AP Computer Science Principles exam; he was 1 of 459 perfect scores worldwide amongst an estimated 164,000 takers.
“AP represents an opportunity for students to stand out to colleges, earn college credit and placement, and potentially boost their grade point averages,” said Trevor Packer, head of the AP program. “The schools have shown that they can expand access to these college-level courses and still drive high performance – they represent the best of our AP program.”
Way to go, Eagles!
