Sacks Gift Endows Golf Program and Supports The ESD Fund

Paula and Jon Sacks moved to Dallas last year and are already making a big impact at  The Episcopal School of Dallas (ESD). The family has given a generous gift to establish the Sacks Family Fund "Fore" Eagles endowment supporting the school's golf program and continued annual support of The ESD Fund.

"The ESD community has been very welcoming to us, and we want to continue the tradition of welcoming new families as well as supporting ESD," said Jon Sacks. "Golf teaches many important life lessons like honesty, sportsmanship, and friendly competition. This endowment will provide ESD with the resources to build the golf program further while fostering a life-long love of golf among ESD students."

While participating in sports, ESD students acquire invaluable life skills in overcoming obstacles, collaboration, and time management. The golf program at ESD begins in middle school. The upper school's golf program allows athletes to compete against some of the region's top programs. Eight Eagles have gone on to play at the collegiate level.

"The Sacks family gift establishing an endowment fund in support of ESD golf is a great example of giving to endowment," said Denis Stokes, ESD's Chief Advancement Officer. "Gifts made to endowment create a permanent source of funding completely aligned with something important to the donor, either by endowing an existing program or by creating something new. In the Sacks' case, by their generosity, they make known an understanding of the game of golf as a teacher of life and that ESD should always foster programming with the aim of the healthy formation of its students."

The Sacks family believes building the endowment fund is fulfilling an important need for the future. "When you give now, you'll see your gift grow alongside your kids as they grow at ESD," Jon Sacks remarked. "Growing the ESD endowment is a wise investment that will generate dividends forever."
