Upper School Students Practice Spanish with Kinder Friends

What better way to learn a language than to teach it? Señora Marcela Garcini’s Spanish III class recently traveled across campus to the Kindergarten neighborhood to teach different parts of the body in another language. While the lower and upper school students buddied up, the Kindergarten class performed a song in Spanish describing different parts of the body. After the performance, Spanish III students helped the kindergarteners learn the correct words in Spanish by drawing out the body.
“They were so excited when my Spanish class walked in; it was so cute,” said Madison Stiles ‘27. “After their performance, we got to trace our buddies' bodies on a large piece of paper and label them. My buddy and I even gave her drawing hair, nails, and a uniform! They were so excited to learn and write on their sketched outlines!”
When asked about her trip to the kindergarten neighborhood, Madison reflected on her time as a lower school student. She said, “I remember looking up to high schoolers, thinking how old they looked, so going into this class, I knew how they felt. I wanted to make sure they felt comfortable and happy. I was so happy to help these kids because they were excited and interested in learning with us!”
