"She Loves Me" Upper School Musical Premiere

If you’re looking for something to do this evening, stop by the Frank for the debut showing of this year’s Upper School Winter Musical, She Loves Me. She Loves Me features a classic enemies-to-lovers trope set in a late 1930s European perfumery; the story follows Amalia and Georg through their various exchanges, providing the perfect foundation for timeless rom-com movies like The Shop Around the Corner and You’ve Got Mail.
In preparation for one of the biggest shows of the season, Performing Arts Department Chair and Upper School Fine Arts Teacher Lauren Redmond ‘01 was eager to share her vivid imagination with the ESD community as she took the story of She Loves Me from her head to the stage. She Loves Me is Redmond’s 15th ESD stage production under her direction. Collectively, from her time as a student through her ESD teaching tenure, Redmond has participated and/or directed an impressive 33 upper school productions.
As a lifelong musical theatre performer, Redmond appreciates that directing allows her to work directly with students on all aspects of the production and share her passion for the stage. When asked to describe what she appreciates most about the annual Winter Musical, Redmond expressed, “I love to work with students and help them grow and develop as artists while they bring a vision to life in front of my eyes. Each student is different; for some, it may be a challenge, or it might be a form of escapism. For others, it may be about doing something fun and spending time with friends. Overall, I hope they take away a sense of accomplishment from putting on this production and that they had a good time doing it.”
