TPSMEA Orchestra and Band Placements 2025 - The Episcopal School of Dallas | Best Private Schools in Dallas

February 10, 2025

Congratulations to our Eagles who represented ESD at the Texas Private School Music Educators Association All-State Band and Orchestra performances on Saturday, January 25, 2025.

Ritvik Maridi ’25 was selected for the trombone after working on two etudes - one lyrical and one technical. These short musical compositions were recorded and submitted to a five-judge panel for blind auditions. His recordings were included with all trombone players from TPSMEA schools across the entire state of Texas.

“Ritvik is a two-time TPSMEA All-State musician who has grown in his playing through the years,” said Dr. Doug Jordan, Director of Bands. “He is actively involved in all parts of the band program, including solo and ensemble contests at both the Region and State levels, as well as the Region Concert Band.”

Elaine Yao ’28 played first violin during the All-State Orchestra performance. She started preparing for the audition last May when the materials were released. “The audition music is quite hard music since the very best students from the whole state of Texas are selected,” said Dr. Adrian Demian, Orchestra Teacher. “In general, only high school students audition, but Elaine auditioned for the first time as an eighth grader.”

This year, the All-State Orchestra event started with a new set of "chair auditions," where students were ranked by how well they prepared the music. “Elaine was second chair, first violin, meaning she was ranked second best out of all the violinists. As a freshman, this is a wonderful achievement!” Demian said.

We are proud of you, Eagles!
